I've been to a lot of Jewish weddings, and they lift the bride and groom into the air while dancing around them. There's also a custom of stomping on a glass (to commemorate the destruction of the 2nd Temple) and I've seen people get cuts in the process.

Several people died and many homes were destroyed. Those of us who were there were already shaken by the death of John Kennedy only three weeks earlier. The reservoir's floodwaters literally washed in the turbulent times that lay ahead.

I grew up and was raised in Simi, and hiked every weekend in sage ranch (next to the Rocketdyne site), my father worked at the text site. the stories that i've heard about the site are shocking, the fact the site is still classified as radioactive, the fact that this is not known by most of the citizens of simi, and the fact that my history books said, ironically, that the worst nuc. accident was three mile island is just horrific (the the latest study says simi was ~300x worse)

Neither the Soviet union or the west had any experience of a disaster of this magnitude. They didn't have proper protective gear because there weren't any gear adequate for the environment even in existence. The people there weren't stupid. I was in a city near Enschede shopping and my mom and i were looking in the air and we saw some smoke so we thougt its just a little fire nothing to wurry about... and then about 2 minuten later a big explosion folowed on the smoke.. and it did pain to my ears!So hard i never heart that ever before.. so we know there was something wrong and after the first big explosion there folowed 2 or maybe 3 explosion to whit much fireword i saw everything clearly. I get pictures in my head when i see this!

When you really see the firework you can see people running and taking cover. And after the first bang you see almost nobody exept people running out of their destroyed houses. They just didnt know. I was there! it was SHOCKING.. the two main explosions were so LOUD... THere was relatively few deaths because it was the first warm Saturday of 2000 and most people were out and about, mostly in the centrum. Had it been a cold day or another day, it could have been terribly worse.

I was so lucky to have been sitting third-row center at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood the night Kelly performed this gorgeous rendition. (It was the night Fantasia won the third American Idol.) Kelly came out and sat on the piano during the entire, long commercial break, totally focused and concentrated. At one point she dabbed tears from her eyes. She prepared herself for the song like an actress preparing for a scene. It was really beautiful to watch, and the results are stunning.
